A Visionary Concept.

A Glickenhaus Concept Car.

"SCG 009 Concept. Liquid Hydrogen Fuel Cell. Range: New York to Los Angeles. One's grasp should always exceed one's reach."

In the words of Jim Glickenhaus:
My journey has brought me back and looking into our future I think about several things:
  •  "E fuels". Fuels synthesized from Bio waste/plants which basically grow from water and solar energy. F1 is already going towards these fuels. All motorsports and general transpiration could use them and infrastructure is already in place to quickly refuel existing ICE Planes (being tested), Boats (marine transportation is very polluting), long haul trucking and cars.
  • Hydrogen fuel cells. Clean/efficient/no need for batteries which are less efficient, take up space, weigh a lot. We are exploring ways to create a safe, quick refueling solution that could be located in existing Service Stations (Think swapping out your empty propane BBQ tank for a full one). We're looking into proving our concept by making a fuel cell race Boot for the Baja 1000.
  • EV/batteries. As an interim step I see improvement in batteries which will extend range and reduce charging time, many more and better charging stations but because of Fuel Cells advantages I don't see Battery EV's as a long term solution.
Articulately designed by Glickenhaus' infamous in-house designer Michael Young in conjunction with Jim Glickenhaus, the 009 Concept car highlights both the technological aspirations of the SCG brand while continuing its tradition of homage. After attending 1964 World's Fair, Jim was exposed to Syd Mead's futuristic depiction of the US Steel exhibition leaving him entranced and inspired. The 009 Concept car is a continuation of that fascination - a blend of Sydnis Meads futurist design language juxtaposed with Glickenhaus' drive for automotive innovation and exploration.
"A concept begins with a sketch. It evolves. Will be turn it into a real object? Will it use "E fuel", Fuel Cells or Batteries? To early too say. Syd your vision lives within me."
-  Jim Glickenhaus
